Glen Fergusson has done just that by giving back to the local community with a gift in his will. His gift will go to scholarships for students in the Taranaki community, going to where the needs are the greatest.

Glen Fergusson has lived in Taranaki his whole life, following a career in journalism and photography with Taranaki newspapers, retiring in 1997 as Chief Photographer. He has enjoyed his retirement years and had been thinking about what to do with his estate for some time when he came upon the option of leaving a legacy to his community through Te Karaka Foundation.

“It suited me down to the ground, I like the way that Te Karaka operates with low fees and making this into something that will be of use to the community long-term. It also solved my problem of what to do with my estate”.

Glen believes there are a lot of deserving students who could do with a helping hand to further their education and life skills. His immense legacy will make a significant difference to the Taranaki kids and their future forever.

He says that giving in this way, through a gift in his Will, makes him feel good. “I like the idea of leaving the world in a better place than when I arrived; turning my money into something that will always remain”.

Do you want to support your local community and leave a gift in your will? It could be a scholarship or a gift supporting your favourite charity or cause and making a real difference forever.
