We don’t give Christmas cards, knowing the money saved is going towards granting more to people and important causes in our community.

Why not copy this initiative and give the money you save from giving cards and gifts to Te Karaka’s Taranaki Fund – a general fund for priority needs.

Why?

  • A great way to show your support for the region you live in and do business in
  • A good news story to share with your family, friends, business community, clients and customers
  • Feel good knowing you are helping others
  • A great reflection of your values
  • Be a great citizen of Taranaki
  • Recognition on Te Karaka’s website and Facebook page

How to do it

  • Let us know so we can help publicise your good deed and add your donation to the Taranaki Fund 15-3953-0804837-00 (reference TaraFund)
  • Tell your clients and community what you are doing and why (eg. e-card, newsletter, Facebook, website, news story)
  • Sit back and feel the happiness that giving to others brings

What impact will it have
The beauty of our funding model is the capital is never touched and grows, while only the interest is used for granting. Some recent Te Karaka grants were used for:

  • Cochlear implant covers that mean Thomas can hear while he swims and play in the rain, just like his mates
  • A laptop so hearing impaired student Den could take on tertiary study
  • Specialist alarms so deaf siblings Benji and Sadie can take action if there’s ever a fire and be independent and get themselves up and ready for their day
  • A tandem bike that allows visually impaired mum and student Teena to keep fit and experience the freedom of bike riding
